We may make decisions on our own with our personal / individual thinking ability or we may do this in conjunction with prayerfulness and understanding of (what may be quite varied) communication(s) from God which includes yet may not be limited to these proceeding abilities that may be inherent (also latent, developable) within all people:

1. clairsentience - communication by feelings and sensations
2. claircognizance - recognition because of the gifting of God
3. clairvoyance - perception of visions from God
4. clairaudience - hearing sounds from God
5. clairolfaction - smells from God

I've experienced many of both
